Last week, we told you a new DoneDone is coming soon. This week, we’d like to start getting you familiar with what’s changed and why it changed. In about a month, when the New DoneDone is released, you’ll see a handful of small but important changes to the navigation.
The header across the entire application has been updated and simplified. It’s still just as easy as ever to create a new issue by clicking the “+” in the top right corner. Searching or checking your notifications are still dead simple, but some of the less frequently used links like Companies & People, What’s New?, and your profile have been folded into a new Settings menu. Lastly, whenever you get into a specific project or issue, you’ll find a series of “breadcrumbs,” which are links to take you back one level (or more).
When you dig into the details of a specific issue, you’ll find a new blue bar. This is the sub-navigation bar. In this instance you’ll find it links you back to the Issue List Dashboard, summarizes exactly what’s going on with that issue, and then allows you to move to the next or previous issue within the results you’d originally filtered to on the Issue List Dashboard.
You’ll see the blue sub-navigation again when you dig into any Project, Company or Profile Settings pages. These pages are lighter, faster, and more contextual in the New DoneDone. When you dig into settings, a flyout covers your present location within the app, and you can navigate with the sub-navigation to any related settings pages. Changed your mind about those settings updates? Just click outside the flyout or press Esc to return to where you were before and close the flyout. Simple as that.
These are just a handful of the key updates we’ve made to the New DoneDone. We’ll be walking you through others in the coming weeks. As always, we welcome your questions, comments, and feedback by email or on Twitter. To read up on all the new changes, you can follow the New DoneDone tag.
