DoneDone Mobile Trends

It’s been about a year since we updated DoneDone with a mobile-friendly version for iPhones, iPads, Android devices, and just about any modern mobile browser. With a new iPhone launching this week, I thought it would be a good time to share the usage numbers we’ve seen over the past 12 months.

Even though Android devices are currently outselling iOS products, DoneDone’s mobile user base appears to overwhelmingly favor Apple devices.

Our Android users seem to be split mainly between Samsung and Google products.

And finally, a breakdown of specific devices shows that DoneDone visitors are most likely using an iPhone, followed by the iPad and the Google Nexus 4.

Responsive Design vs Native Apps

DoneDone’s primary approach to mobile has been to offer an in-browser experience. Simply visit your DoneDone account using your mobile browser, and you’ll see a mobile-optimized layout that easily lets you accomplish the most common DoneDone tasks: browsing, viewing, creating, and editing issues. Plus, when you view any DoneDone notification email on your phone, you can simply tap a link to an issue to seamlessly load it in your mobile browser.

Looking Forward

While the majority of DoneDone visitors primarily use their desktop computers, we’ve seen a steady increase in the number of mobile visits over the past year. We expect this to continue to grow as smartphones get even faster and more prevalent, so we’ll continue to make mobile-friendly layouts a priority.
