DoneDone will be offline this Friday evening.

This Friday evening, beginning at 6pm CST, DoneDone will be offline for about 24 hours. As we’ve written about over the last few weeks, a new version of DoneDone will be ready for you all when you get to work on Monday morning and most likely before.

If you read one thing, read this: When you sign in to the new DoneDone, you’ll use your email address as your username. Because of some account structure changes, we could not bring your usernames to the new system. If you want to create a new username once you’re in, click on Profile, and you can update it there.

Once the new DoneDone is up and running, all users and account owners will be receiving an email confirmation that the transition is complete.

Do note that for a period of about 24 hours after we update our DNS services, the * may not resolve fully outside of the US. We anticipate full propagation of the DNS update to be in place by 12:00 am CST Monday, October 3rd.

Why the long outage?

We’re moving DoneDone to a new hosting environment, and we’re also migrating (and augmenting) all existing DoneDone customer data to fit into the new DoneDone. This takes time, and we don’t want to lose any data. Thus, DoneDone will be completely offline until the entire migration is complete and verified.

Will all of my data be available in the new DoneDone?

We expect 100% of your data to be retained. It will be presented in a much prettier interface, obviously, but everything should be there. Projects, files, users, issues should all fit snuggly into the new database.

Will my account URL stay the same?

Yes, you’ll sign-in to DoneDone at the same location as you always have.

Will my username and password stay the same?

No. Your username will not be retained. Your password will stay the same. When you sign-in to the new DoneDone, you’ll need to enter your email address in place of your old username. If you don’t want your email address to be your username, then once you’re signed in, click “Profile” and you can create a new username. The reason for this is that your DoneDone credentials will now give you access to multiple DoneDone accounts and future applications.

Will old DoneDone emails still work?

Most DoneDone emails will resolve elegantly to the corresponding page in the new DoneDone. In the event that a page isn’t found, users will be dropped off on the dashboard.
